Just a little note while being very busy

Daphne Bennett

Life has been a mess for a while.

My husband started working in a new job. I have some friends came to visit and stayed. I stayed over at my in-law for a long weekend. Sometimes Bertie sleeps like an angel but sometimes he is like a newborn all over again. Maybe because he sleeps better, maybe because I am engaging less on the internet, maybe because I haven’t done any painting in the last couple of months, I have finished a few novels. There is no greater joy than able to be concentrate on a book and rush to the end in a few days.

Ups and downs. Life.

Recently I am very nostalgic to the pre-baby life, the freedom and the possibilities to concentrate and get things done. I have read a lot of very painful stories in the news these days. I cannot make up my mind…

More Calendars – circular, quotes, different start days

scrappystickyinkymess

I have been collecting quotes for calendars.  as a special request from a reader, who likes my circular calendars, I made this new set.  Slightly different (less pretty and flowery font) with calendar/time related quotes around the circle, rather than the month names.  As I have worked out a fairly quick way to do both the Sunday to Saturday and the Monday to Sunday versions, I have.  Here is a little sample for you:

two

The quotes are:
Live each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and
resign yourself to the influences of each.

How do you measure a year? Measure, measure your life in love   Share love, give love, spread love …

Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that is the stuff life is made of

Time, by moments, steals away, First the hour, and then the day;

2016 Calendar Printable

CALENDAR 2016

I have received many requests over the summer for a 2016 calendar printable, and I am finally ready to share next year’s calendar. I cannot believe how quickly this year has gone and in 4 short month’s we’ll already be bringing in another year!

We are excited to be spending the next year in Washington… JD cannot contain himself with his excitement about the big move. Just the other day, someone said “hi” to him and asked him how he was doing. He proceeded to tell him his current situation of how his Dad is gone (for military training), and that we’ll be moving to Washington soon. The kid has no filter and will pretty much tell you his life story.

CALENDAR 2016 3

The 2015 Calendar Printable has been a huge hit and I’m so glad so many of you have downloaded your printable and love it. For the 2016 Calendar, I…

The Monthly Review

Daily PlanIt

It's time for a monthly review and planning for the new month.

A Monthly Review is a look back and a look forward, similar to a Weekly Review but with the time frame of a month.

Steps for a Monthly Review

  1. Review major accomplishments of the past month.
  2. Review the results of any metrics you are tracking.
  3. Plan the next month, reviewing monthly repeating tasks and upcoming annual repeating tasks.
  4. Review your value statement.
  5. Review goals & projects.
  6. Review ideas and decide whether to take action on any of them.
  7. Print calendars and/or lists if desired.

Monthly Review Questions

  1. How does what actually happened in the past month compare to what you had planned?
  2. What went well? Was progress made on projects and goals?
  3. Do all tasks, projects and goals align with your value statement?
  4. What didn’t go so well? Where are you stuck and what can you do about it?
  5. Did you make good use of your time?
  6. How can you increase productivity

The Empty Box

Daily PlanIt

It’s the time of year when we think about the things that scare us the most. Ghosts, monsters, zombies…and the grim reaper standing over an empty coffin with our name on it.

There is another box that is even scarier. Imagine a box that represents your time here on earth, that is either filled with the things that you wanted to put into it. Or it’s not. The thing is, you get to decide what goes in it. That is a thought that is both liberating and frightening.

Timebox2Timebox

Timebox1 What will you put into the box of your time today?

What do you want to put into the box of your time? Do you want to fill the box with creative, completed projects, with good work well done? Do you want to build great friendships, raise wonderful kids, share big ideas? When you think of each day as a file box, can you…

A paper planner tool for the weekly review

Daily PlanIt

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

My paper planner began gathering dust as I switched to other tools which are more portable and practical. I transformed it into a tool to use at my desk for the weekly review. This clarified the process for me and makes it more visual. I spiffed it up with custom tabs and slash pockets from Day Runner. My tabs are: Today’s Schedule, Projects, Goals, Follow-up, Ideas, and Notes.

Set Up Part One

Permanent printable information to consult on each process:

Set Up Part Two

Personal lists that change frequently:

  • To Do List (next actions)
  • Repeating tasks
  • Projects
  • Goals
  • Follow up
  • Mission statement
  • Ideas

I now use Google Task Taskary…

How to Make a Difference

Daily PlanIt

If you have a cause you are passionate about, or a problem you want to solve to make the world a better place, this Checklist for Change can help with information to outline a plan for change.

I developed the PrintableChecklist for Change (pdf) after I heard about the How To Start a Revolution Webinar created by Jonathan Fields. Scott Dinsmore at Live Your Legend describes the webinar in his article 18 Field-Tested Steps to Launching a Non-Violent Revolution. The Daily PlanIt Change Toolkit provides links to tools for the steps and  includes a Change Outline.

CHECKLIST FOR CHANGE

CLARIFY THE IDEA

  • Choose a name that describes what the idea is about.
  • Describe the primary purpose. What is it for, how does it work, what are the features?
  • Identify the Value Proposition. What are the unique benefits offered?
  • Identify the Pain Point? What problem is solved?

COMMUNICATE

Clear…
